Christmas cacti can be quite easy to care for once you understand a few of the basics. When the plants are in flower, they should be kept in bright, indirect light. Too much light can cause the flower color to fade or the heat my cause the flower buds to drop. Day temperatures of 70F and evening temperatures of 60-65F are considered ideal. Water thoroughly, but then let the plant dry between waterings. However, when they are flowering do not let them get too dry or they may drop their flower buds. Once flowering is complete continue to your care but fertilize monthly from April to October. Pruning plants in June will encourage more branching and more flowers.
