How do I carve a pumpkin?
- Buy a medium or large sized pumpkin.
- Take a large knife and cut around the top of the pumpkin near the stem in a circular motion so that you can remove the top to scoop out the innards.
- Take off the top of the pumpkin and scoop out the insides and seeds. Keep for later to make roasted pumpkin seeds.
- Draw your design on the front of the pumpkin.
- Taking a small knife, carve out the design that you wish. Make sure that you are careful and do not hurt yourself. The design should only be elaborate if you know how to use a knife and have carved a pumpkin before. If you are a beginner stick with the general triangle eyes and half moon smile design.
- Once you have carved your pumpkin, stick a small candle inside (secure it so that it doesn’t fall over) and put the top back on. Now you have a jack-o-lantern!
