Webgate supports three methods of handling SSL traffic. SSL Offload, SSL Parsing and SSL Tunneling SSL Offload is used to encode/decode traffic between the client and proxy. The traffic between webgate and the server is in clear text thereby offloading encryption from busy web servers The permitssl directive is used to permit ssl traffic. It is similar to the standard permit rule, but has additional parameters to specify site certificates, private keys, and passphrases. Use of the non_ssl_server parameter specifies that the communication between webgate and the destination server will not be encrypted by ssl. Use this option of the permnitssl directive when you want to offload ssl processing from the web server. If this parameter is not coded webgate will use ssl to encrypt the communication to the server.
