Short answer: Before you read this long post, verify that you have your linksys router configured for DHCP (automatically obtain IP address). I may have misunderstood you and read too far into what you’re asking. If you’re unsure of the settings, and don’t care to lose the current settings, do a hard reset on the Linksys router. To do this, hold the small reset button in the back with the router on. After 30 seconds pass, remove the power cable while continuing the hold the reset button. After 30 additional seconds pass, plug the power in, keeping the reset button pressed. Wait an additional 30 seconds, then release the reset button. Wait 10 seconds, then unplug the router for 10 seconds, and then wait 10 seconds and plug in again. Properly executed, this hard resetting method should nearly 100% guarantee you have properly reset to the defaults.
