Recommendation: To establish a lawn properly: Aggressively aerate or vertical mow the area to bring up loose soil and disturb the surface or lightly till then seed the area to a quality turf-type tall fescue at 6 to 7 lbs of pure live seed per 1000 square feet (usually 8 lbs of actual seed per 1000 square feet). Keep the area watered. Include a balanced starter fertilizer at seeding. Seed in early September, Fertilize again in Mid October, and Fertilize again in early December.
