How do I debark pine trees infested with mountain pine beetles?
Debarking Pine Beetle-Infested TreesCut down the tree infested with pine beetles, leave it in its place and as soon as possible strip it of its bark. (Letting the tree dry out allows the sap to glue itself to the trunk and allows pine beetles to escape and infest other trees.) Cut off any branches and mulch or burn them. On the trunk, use a bark-stripper like a two-handled draw knife, or a chainsaw attachment like the Log Wizard, to get under the bark and strip it from the trunk. After stripping, take the bark and bury it (at least 8 inches deep) or burn it to get rid of any additional pine beetle larvae or matured beetles.
