Go to the drugstore or supermarket and buy a two dollar bottle of boric acid powder. Mix a cup of warm water, two cups of sugar and two tablespoons of boric acid, mixing well. Place the mixture in small bottle or jar caps around the areas the ants frequent. The workers will carry the mixture back to the nest and eventually the nest will be wiped out, queen and all. You can make less or more mixture if you like, just keep the proportions about the same. Too much boric acid is said to repel ants and too little will not kill them. If you happen to have grease loving ants rather than sugar eaters mix up a meal for them with soup broth or meat gravy instead of sugar. A teaspoon of boric acid in a cup of broth or gravy works about right. It will take a few days for the entire nest to be killed, so be patient.

you need to find the ant hive first because there is no point in killing the odd ant here and there i had this problem in my last house the ants nested between a crack in the walk way and the house we used boiling water and it worked but you really need to find the nest first
