first of all,happy birthday.the best thing to do is to contact your local social security office/jobcentre.they will be able to inform you of all the benefits you are entitled to,and will send you the necessary forms to fill in.you will probably need a doctors certificate as well to send in with the forms as proof of your disability,so if you haven’t already got this,then it’s worth sorting it out as soon as possible to save time.

Well I truely hope that you managed to have a nice birthday – Happy Birthday to you. I think you need to be below 65 to apply for DLA – however, there are other benefits that I’m sure you would be able to apply for & the best place to visit is the local Social Security centre & ask for advice. You could ring them & ask for someone to call to help you with the forms. It might be that other benefits would be more applicable to your situation – I can’t believe that you’re not entitled to help because you are over 65. I am in receipt of DLA as I am cardiac diabled at the age of 44. It has made a huge difference to our quality of life as we both had to give up well paid jobs – me as a result of my health & my husband in order to look after me and our daughter. I’ve got a “blue badge” which is an absolute gem as it allows me to get out of the house & not worry about having to walk too far.
