How do I fit together the threshhold aluminium door trim I was supplied with my laminate flooring?

I was supplied (in Australia) with a 3 piece door trim. One extrusion for gluing to the floor with a hard plastic insert for the channel it has. And the top extrusion that covers the floor coverings on either side of the threshold. The top trim has 3 nibs on the underside that look like they are meant to lock onto the channel in the bottom extrusion. But the plastic insert is proud of the channel by about 3 mm and it prevents the top trim from locking into it – unless perhaps the top trim is meant to be forcibly hammered into the bottom channel to squash the plastic and spread the sides of the bottom channel to create the ‘lock’. I will go back to the supplier if needed but he was no help over the phone. Perhaps he has given me top and bottom extrusions that don’t match.
