Decide whether you can remove the iron burn stains. If the stain is new and/or relatively lightly burned, there is hope of salvaging the fabric. If the stain is old and/or severe, you may not be able to remove it.Choose a stain removal method, depending on your resources and the severity of the stain. Good Housekeeping recommends dampening the burn stain with a few drops of hydrogen peroxide and a few drops of ammonia, taking care to keep it dampened for up to an hour. Linda Cobb recommends placing a cloth dampened with one part hydrogen peroxide to three parts water onto the stain, then pressing the cloth with a warm to hot iron. You can also try rubbing the stain with a small amount of white vinegar.Wash the garment as you usually would. If necessary, add an oxygen or chlorine bleach to the wash if safe for your fabric. Keep in mind that chlorine bleach and ammonia produce a toxic fume that is hazardous to your house. Do not use it if you have chosen the hydrogen peroxide and ammonia
