You can try the obvious normal nail varnish remover but is very harsh so try one that is marked as conditioning, failing that you can now get a product called 'Get 'em Off' which is primarily used for soaking off false acrylic nails, used sparingly might work. Try in an unnoticeable place first in case colour of carpet is affected. Make sure you have plenty of plain white kitchen roll to hand to soak up any excess you put on or might remove as colour if it does come off will bleed and make a mess. If this does not work, your local hardware shop will sell a removal fluid but it might be pricey. Remember to wash area thoroughly when removed as it will leave a bit of a chemically smell.
