How do I get the Endorsement in Elementary School Counseling if I hold the Secondary School Counseling Certificate?
Counseling certifications include: Elementary (K-8) and Secondary (5-12). An Elementary School Counseling endorsement to a Secondary School Counseling certificate allows an individual to be a counselor in a K-12 setting. You will need to fill out a planned program with your advisor. Generally you must complete COU 825 Developmental Guidance, a graduate level Elementary Curriculum theory course, and COU 880 Elementary Practicum. However, students who hold a K-12 teaching certificate will have the curriculum theory class waived.
