How do I house train my pomeranian puppy?

I took my puppy to a puppy training class. They give really helpful hints and the dogs get to interact with one another which helps them not to be afraid of other dogs and people later on. Also, I trained my pup to use a kitty litter (but I live in a small apartment.) THis was good beacuse she knows she doesn’t have to claw at the door to get out to pee. Introduce her to alot of people early on so she is not timid. Be consistent with verbal commands and corresponding hand signals. Stick your hand in her food bowl while she eats so that she does not develope a protectiveness over her toys, food, etc. Teach her not to beg! I never did that to my dog and now she begs constantly. Make sure to check if her food has sugar in it before you buy it or she’ll be bouncing off the walls! I made that mistake. YOu can ask other dog owners what they find helpful. Good luck!

You have prepared yourself as well as you can. Nothing can prepare you for puppy training and all puppies are different. Positive reinforcement, gentle words, lots of love and endless patience. That’s about it. Wee wee pads and training treats work well. I don’t care for crate training or any of the threatening methods. No pats on the bottom either, dogs have delicate spines and their tailbones are extremely fragile, no matter the breed. Good luck with your new baby. PS. They are all right. Small dogs have bladders about the size of a small walnut, and three hours is the max they can hold it. Take them out right after they eat, right after they wake up and every two hours while they are awake. Leave a wee wee pad in the house somewhere too, they have some sort of chemical scent that attracts puppies when they have the urge to relieve themselves. When they are old enough to not need the wee wee pad, don’t just take it away, move it to the door where they exit to go outside or you will h

The simplest and quickest way to housetrain a puppy is to use a crate. It makes it much easier on everyone. You need to buy the right size of crate (not too big) and be sure to give the puppy lots of supervised time outside of the crate and plenty of potty breaks too. The most important thing is to prevent your pup having the chance to have an ‘accident’ indoors, puppies are creatures of habit and allowing him to get into the habit of ‘going’ inside makes house training twice as difficult.
