Drill through the face of the door until the pilot drill bit emerges on the opposite door face. Finish drilling the hole from the opposite side. Drill a hole for the deadbolt on the edge of the door using a spade bit.Install HardwareSlide the deadbolt into place, and use a utility knife to mark the outline of the dead bolt plate. Chisel out the material inside the marks so the plate sits flush with the edge of the door. Install the two mating cylinder sections, one outside and one inside. Mark the edge of the bolt with a felt tip marker or lipstick, and throw the bolt with some pressure to mark a reference point in the door frame.
