If you want to play really really quickly, you’ll have to first to accept that you’re not going to learn to play it correctly because good technique takes time and a lot of practice to develop. If you are ok with that, then do one of the following: Find a banjo teacher who is willing to “cram” some lessons in to you, instead of one half-hour lesson each week, you might want to sign up for 3 or 4 two hour lessons each week, or maybe even more. Some teacher ought to go along with it, as long as you are willing to pay for their time. The other approach would be to look in the music stores for some good “learn to play the banjo” videos, then throw them in your VHS or DVD player, lock yourself into your room, and don’t come out until you can play the thing.
