How do I light a pilot light for gas logs?
It’s pretty easy to light pilots on gas applicances. With your gas log, I’m assuming you can’t locate the owner’s manual, which will illustrate where your pilot is. You can find it by looking closely for the on/off knob, usually a red or grey plastic knob with ON/OFF/PILOT printed on it, and a small push button next to it. The following instructions are given assuming you have good common sense, and can quickly turn off the gas to the gas log if you have a problem getting this to work. 1. Make sure the gas line is turned on. 2. Find the pilot nub, usually a small antenna-like bulb about an inch long. Under that will be the hole that the gas flame comes from. 3. Turn the knob to PILOT and light a match or lighter. 4. Hold the match to the pilot nub and press the push button, which will release a small flow of gas.
