How do i look after a pet rat..?
You do not need to clean the cage every day, thats just obsessive. Cleaning every night will be expensive. Once a week is fine, especially because you have only two. I have 4, and I clean the cage once a week, but I clean up any urine that isnt absorbed by the litter/bedding. They are perfectly fine. The “recycled cat litter”(also known as Yesterday’s News) isnt really the best choice, due to lots of dust. ( I use it for my rat’s litter box, only a very small handfull to fill the bottom of the small litterbox.) You need some type of bedding as well, because Yesterday’s News does not double as bedding. Also, hard pellets are uncomfortable for ratties to walk on. (think of walking on gravel barefoot) Most anything you choose will have dust, unless you just use newspaper on the bottom of the cage. My rats use paper towels as bedding. (make sure the paper towels are plain white with no chemicals, dyes, etc.) But you will need to check the bedding that they sleep in often, because most rats
