How do i make a mixture of magnesium sulphate from magnesium oxide power and dilute sulphuric acid?
1) Add an excess of magnesium powder to dilute sulphuric acid. It dissolves on warming. 2) Add more until no more will dissolve which means all the acid is used up. 3) Filter the excess magnesium oxide. This leaves a solution of magnesium sulfate in water. 4) Heat the solution to evaporate some of the water. 5) Leave it to cool and crystallize. 6) Filter the crystals of magnesium oxide, rinse them with water, and dry them between pieces of filter paper.
