It is better to have a "digital reproduction" copy of the painting in your portfolio. If you are to get a copy go to an artistic printer, and tell him/her that you want a reproduction, because there is a difference between a print and a reproduction. A print is a hand-pressed copy that is way more valuable than a reproduction. You should never use a "Print" or an "Original" in a portfolio. They are both too valuable. Plus, it is regular once the school/gallery has viewed your portfolio they throw it out. The trick to a portfolio is to have it look high quality but made cheaply. It depends on the school of course,...but that is what usually happens. You need to go to an artistic printer,....here is an example: <a href="http://www.dragonflyprinting.com/" rel="nofollow">http://www.dragonflyprinting.com/</a> perhaps there is an artistic printer in your area simular to this example.
