Noting the problems above, add the following to your squid.conf: cache_peer proxy.chello.co.nz parent 8080 7 no-query no-digest default prefer_direct off Squid (2.2 at least) by default doesn’t like to talk to proxies it can’t query by ICP or other cache-to-cache methods, and prefer_direct tells it to use a parent cache for anything.
