How do I manually vacuum an inground salt water system pool?

Answer Vacuuming a pool is the same process regardless of the type of sanitizer system you use (chlorine, bromine, ozone, salt). Therefore, first I would suggest attaching the vacuum hose to the vacuum itself and slowly feed it into the pool. The hose will fill with water (known as priming the hose). Once the hose is filled with water, attach the free end of the hose to the bottom of the skimmer (after you remove the skimmer basket). Next, your goal is to concentrate all of the pump’s suction onto the skimmer line. Therefore, turn off the main drain, spa drain (if one exists) and additional skimmer lines (if the additional skimmer has a dedicated skimmer line.) If the second skimmer line is tied into the same line, use a plug (or tennis ball) to block the suction from the second skimmer. Note: If there are multiple skimmer lines, I typically will vacuum off of the skimmer closest to the filtration system b/c of better water flow. Hope this helps.
