How do I paint furniture to look like dark wood?

Strip furniture with a chemical stripping agent. Sand furniture with 320 grit sand paper. Remove wood dust with a paint brush. Prime the surface of furniture with a paint primer after stripping and sanding. Apply latex paint in natural wood tones with a clean paint brush. Paint in smooth strokes, making sure the furniture is fully covered with paint.Use a graining tool next. A graining tool resembles a mini paint roller, but is made from metal–and has a spiky texture on the roller. Before the paint dries fully, push the tool through the paint, making a slight wavy pattern to resemble the look of natural wood grain. This is easily done by starting at the bottom, and pushing the tool up in an uneven line. Wood grain on natural wood is never straight or perfect.Use a waterproof clear varnish to seal the furniture after the paint is fully dry.
