By what you are saying, I’m assuming you downloaded the game illegally. If you’d like to play online with friends (I’m assuming not in the same house, cuz then you can use that illegal copy to play on LAN), then you need to go to steampowered.com and download the steam client. After that is installed, you create a free account, then open the games window. From there you purchase and download counter-strike 1.6 for about $10…I think. After that and all your friends have done the same, you can play with them online.
