How do I practice Dolch Sight Words with my child?

0

The best way to learn sight words is to simply to make flashcards. Start with one group of 5-7 words and go over them one by one with your child. Then hold up one flashcard at a time and ask your child to read the word. After you have gone through the words, shuffle them up and repeat this process until your child quickly recognizes all the words in the pile. Once s/he has mastered the first group, add another 3 or 4 new Dolch words. Start by going over the new words, then shuffle them into the mastered pile of flashcards. Now, you have a group of 8-11 flashcards. Practice this group until your child can quickly read all of the sight words. Continue to add words in groups of 3-4 until your child can recognize 100% of the words on each of the lists.
