I really don’t know exactly what you are asking, but I will give it a try. USPS does not want the general public to start printing barcodes on their mail. The reason being is that we require mailers that are claiming a discounted rate of postage to use very specialized software for generating their addressing. It is called CASS Certified. For the average home user, the software is far too expensive, and requires updating every 2 months, which can also be quite expensive. CASS performs an address matching function. This determines that the elements of the address match each other and also appear in the USPS databases so that they can be Delivery Point Barcoded. At this point in time the Postnet DPBC is the minimum you need to claim an automated rate. This whole thing just isn’t practical for the average person to use.
