Some televisions come with a built-in DVD player and VCR. This allows you to avoid purchasing additional hardware and reduces the amount of cable clutter behind your TV. If you only want to flip through the stations you receive, you can program your TV/VCR/DVD combo device. Whether your TV is old or new, the operation is simple and will save you from having to click through all that dead space. Power on your TV/VCR/DVD combo. Press the “Menu” button on the TV’s remote control. Once the options appear on the screen, select “Video.” Scroll through the list of options (using the directional arrows on the remote control) and chose “Channel Scan.” Select either “Antenna” or “Cable,” depending on what type of connection you have.
