How do I put NcFTPd into verbose mode so it generates debugging output in the logs?

First, find where you run you NcFTPd. If you’re using version 2.7.0 or later, and you ran the install_ncftpd.pl script, then the script should have shown you the location of the restart_ncftpd script. Usually this is at /usr/local/sbin/restart_ncftpd. Edit the script and change the “NCFTPD_VERBOSITY” line to read “NCFTPD_VERBOSITY=-v”. If you’re using version 2.6.3 or earlier, then you are probably using /etc/inittab to launch NcFTPd. Edit the command line so that you use a -v flag when you launch it. For example, you might change it so it read /etc/ncftpd/ncftpd v /etc/ncftpd/general.cf /etc/ncftpd/domain.cf. Next, restart NcFTPd. Verbose logging is now enabled, and this information is sent to the NcFTPd misc logs. If you forgot where the misc logs are at, look in the general.cf for the log-misc option. Now that you’ve enabled verbose logging, here’s how you can use it to diagnose a problem.
