How do I recognise a roundabout?
There may be a triangular sign warning you about the roundabout There will probably be a roundabout information sign (but Cambridge is odd about this: they are changing them to cross road info signs!) telling you the layout and number of exits. As you approach there will be a hazard warning line. At the end of the hazard warning line there will be a single dotted give-way line across your lane and, often, a Keep Left sign. This sign may be on a bollard (with a pedestrian refuge), or on a small triangular island, or on a larger island. On the central circle of the roundabout will be a One Way (to the left) sign and chevrons pointing to the left. On busy roads, with perhaps more than one lane, the hazard warning line may be replaced by a central reservation. The Keep Left sign will then be at the beginning of the central reservation.
