To receive TRICARE ECHO benefits, you must register with the regional contractor in which you reside. The registration process includes providing the regional contractor with documentation that you have an active duty sponsor, a qualifying condition, and are enrolled in the Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP) provided by your sponsor’s branch of service. Upon completion of registration, your DEERS record will be modified to indicate that you are eligible for ECHO benefits. To avoid delaying receipt of ECHO services while processing the EFMP enrollment, the MCSC in your region or the TRICARE Overseas Program REgional Director (TOP-RD) may grant ECHO eligible beneficiaries a provisional eligibility status for a period of not more than 90 days during which ECHO benefits can be authorized and paid for.
