How do I remove spilled paint from finished furniture?
Work quickly before the paint has a chance to dry. Moisten a clean cloth rag with water. Wipe away the paint using the damp rag.Moisten a clean cloth rag with mineral spirits. Do not mistake lacquer thinner or turpentine for mineral spirits, as these solvents may damage the finished furniture. Wipe away any remaining wet paint using the damp rag. Rub in a circular motion. Dry the mineral spirits using a clean rag.Scrape away dried spilled paint using a plastic putty knife. Use a clean cloth rag as a buffer between the finished furniture and the plastic scraper. Do not use a rigid metallic putty knife in place of a flexible plastic one, as this may scar the finish.
