Windows Defender is a free program distributed by Microsoft. When installed, it helps to protect the computer from spyware and other types of malicious software. Unfortunately, recent versions of Windows Defender no longer support the Windows 2000 operating system due to the fact that the operating system is out of its primary support phase. However, by removing a limitation in the Windows Defender installation package, it is possible to install and run Windows Defender on Windows 2000. Use Orca, a Windows Installer editor, to remove the limitation that prevents Windows Defender from being installed on a Windows 2000 machine.
