Saved image files are always rectangular. So when you crop with non-rectangular shapes like ovals, you would have to save the image with transparency information. FxFoto has made the areas outside of the crop transparent so what is below shows through. To save with transparency, you would need to save the cropped photo as PNG file. JPEG files do not support transparency, but PNG does. An irregularly cropped photo is still a rectangle but parts of it are transparent. FxFoto handles transparency in PNG files, though not all other software does. So if you open a PNG with transparency, the background will show through outside the crop. Saving a PNG with transparency was a little harder in older versions of FxFoto. In recent versions of FxFoto, use Save Image As and then in the second dialog choose “Add as a new picture to a left-pane folder” or “Target given path file name”.
