How do I scan non-formulary medication, Pt home meds, or Study/Investigation meds?

A non-formulary medication may not come up in your medication cart but you will still see an order in AdminRx. You need to make sure you have Physician to write a justification for the med/s and fax order. On the Care Manager screen, you will see Clarification or Justification order for that med/s. Click on that and confirm as you would any medication. Meds will either be in a bag that is heat sealed (scan label) or prepackaged (scan package). Scan pt specific label. Barcode on med itself will not scan. If patient brings meds from home and/or receives Study Medication, follow the same procedure you do now. When Pharmacy identifies and “tags” patient’s home meds, it will not have a barcode on it. Go to Meds Chart screen and click on the medication, click on administer medication at the bottom of screen and administer medication.
