How do I set my speakers on Vista as a recording device?

Sorry TV guy, but you’re sort of half wrong. Speakers themselves CAN be used as a sort of microphone. They are transducers JUST LIKE a dynamic microphone. So, if you plug a set of standard, non-powered speakers into a microphone input you are able to use them as a microphone. They don’t usually sound as clear, but they do work. What you would need to do is plug them into the mic input. Unelss, your old speakers were and “all-in-one” system that had a separate mic built into the speaker enclosures themselves. In this case, there would have been a separate cable for an output that you can plug into the mic input. ALSO – TV GUY said you can plug it into the Line in… you don’t want to do that, it’s meant for a different signal level and is usually a stereo input, not mono.
