How do i soften my cervix so ill dilate sooner last time it took 19 hours..?
Your cervix generally softens from the hormones as labor gets closer. Semen has prostaglandins in it also which can help soften the cervix (one reason they tell you to have sex). The midwives generally believe in evening primrose oil/capsules as well to soften the cervix (do your research on the internet about this). The other way to do it is through medical induction with a prostaglandin gel that they would insert. However, keep in mind, just because your cervix isn’t soft now, doesn’t mean it can’t soften up and dilate over a period of a few hours. Your first labor may have been long for other reasons as well…position of the baby, your movement in labor, etc. Just relax and let your body do the work on its’ own – it will.
