How do I use custom made shapes on photoshop?

With custom shapes in photoshop, how they behave depends on the options set for the custom shape tool. Depending on which version of Photoshop you use, as you click on each different tool, the Tool Options Bar (across the top of the screen above the toolbox) changes to show different ways that tool can be used. They are grouped together and look like a square with little squares on each corner, a pen nib with a square over it, and a plain square. If the pen nib with a square over it is selected on your option bar, when you try and fill the shape with colour, the whole canvas fills with colour. If you click on the fourth icon (plain square), this is for pixel fill of the shape and when you draw the shape it immediately fills with colour y
