How do I wean my child off other ADHD/ADD medications (Adderall, Ritalin, Concerta etc)?

(This answer below applies for kids over 12 years of age. For those under 12 years of age, check out the BrightSpark product and FAQ's) As you know, Adderall, Ritalin and Concerta are amphetamine stimulants and if they have been used for some time, your child will probably experience withdrawal symptoms when he/she stops using it. These are usually fatigue and moodiness, often with frequent tears and low tolerance levels, which can last up to 2 or 3 weeks. To wean off these, we suggest: 1.Try to find the least stressful time possible to begin to reduce the dosage. A school vacation is often good - especially if some family members can also take time off to support him/her while they are coming off the drug. 2.
