ChemicalsClean the pool water of all debris by skimming the surface with a pool net. If the pool has algae, do an algae treatment per the instructions on the bottle. Make sure the pH and total alkalinity are balanced. Raise the chlorine level a tad higher than normal. Add the winterizing chemicals per instructions on bottle.DrainsRemove drain and system drain plugs from the filter and pump. Turn the multivalve port valve to “closed” or “winterize.” Drain the water level to below the skimmers, and vacuum the skimmers and return pipes with a pool vacuum. In each skimmer, install skimmer plugs. In the pool return inlet, place a rubber winter plug. Put an air pillow in the middle of the pool, securing it in place with rope. Stretch pool cover over pool.
