System Overview A mini split system is a type of air conditioner that works without the use of a central system of duct work. It is comprised of two separate components, including an outdoor compressor and an indoor evaporator/fan unit. The two units are connected by a conduit that contains electrical wiring, refrigerant lines and condensate tubing. The evaporator unit fits inside of a slim case that mounts within the room that needs to be air conditioned. It may be ceiling or wall-mounted, and can be set on the surface of these structures or recessed into the drywall.The outdoor unit can be placed anywhere outside of the home as long as it’s within 50 feet of the evaporator.
