How do my quad muscles help me run faster?
Quad muscles are the main running muscles along with the hamstrings. I believe the hamstrings are more important to train since they relax when the quads are used. Always develop both the agonist and antagonist muscles or the opposite muscle. Most runners pull their hamstrings while running for instance the 100 meters run especially at the end of the race as they slow down from their maximum speed. Weight training is important especially to prevent injury. For endurance or distance running the goal is not to become a world class weight lifter. Also make sure you have balanced approach to your body developing all your leg and body muscles. Don’t forget developing your abdominal, back and do toe and heel lefts. Good luck!
