How do people qualify for House of Blessing services? Does anyone screen the clients?

When an individual comes into the House of Blessing for the first time, we ask them to fill out an application that includes information such as number and age of dependants, income and expenses. All of this information is kept confidential and our policy is not to share or give it out to anyone. This information is entered into our database and a formula is used based on income and expenses to alert our Service Coordinator as to whether or not the individual qualifies for the food, clothing or furniture bank. If qualified, the client can access use of the food bank once a month, the clothing when needed and furniture by priority or by first come first served basis. Q: What are the demographics of those in need: mostly young people, aged population or an even mix? A: Our client demographics are as follows: • 34.8% children or youth • 63.7% adults • 1.5% seniors Family Composition: • 34.5% single parent • 16.4% dual parent • 7.3% couple – no children • 41.8% single Income Composition: •
