Generally, they claim that one or more of their deities created the universe and/or world. The Jews and Muslims both have the 7 day story, because they both have the same god as the Christians. Religions that are unrelated to the Abrahamic faiths don’t have anything about 7 days. One interesting thing about pagan creation myths is that a number of them include a story of one of their good gods killing an evil god and then creating the world out of the corpse of the evil god. It seems like a strange story to have appear in so many different ancient cultures. Cultures as diverse and widely seperated as the Sumerian, the Norse, and the Aztec all contain this element in their creation stories. Another interesting thing about the creation myths of many ancient religions is that the gods are said to have created everything using pre-existing materials, (quite often water), rather than just creating everything out of nothing at all.
