How do students mix academics with athletics at the USOEC?
Students classes and practices generally are scheduled at different times similar to most high school and college settings. In other words, practice times are predetermined based on the NMU course master schedule. Students must be ready, willing, & able to work hard here at the USOEC to maintain a margin of excellence that will prepare them for the Olympics and life after the Olympics. USOEC athletes have access to the USOEC Academic Coordinator to help and assist with academic needs pertinent to the USOEC at NMU. For info, please call Tony Tollefson at 906-227-2894. In addition to the USOEC Academic Coordinator, NMU provides the Academic & Career Advisement Center. What is a scholarship athlete A scholarship student athlete may be eligible for a grant up to the full “cost of attendance”, not to exceed a total of $15,000 annually. This program is legislated by Congressman Bart Stupak. Click BJ Stupak Scholarship for more info. Click here to see if you qualify as a scholarship athlete.
