in most major football leagues & tournaments, the abbreviations of P, W, D, L, F, A, GD, Pts are as follows: P - matches played W - number of matches won D - number of matches drawn L - number of matches lost F - goals for or goals scored A - goals against or goals conceded GD - goal difference (goals scored minus goals against, F-A) Pts - points earn from matches played points are allocated on the following basis: Win (W) - 3 points Draw (D) - 1 point Lose (L) - 0 point more
