How do the rules of religion affect the daily life a Buddhist?

I wouldn’t say there are rules as such. It’s more a matter of reaping the consequences of your actions. Buddhists believe that joy is found when one learns to let go of all worldly attachments and desires. When a Buddhist prays, they pray to the Buddha, the Dharma and the Sangha. The Buddha is not a god, but our teacher, who teaches the way to true happiness. The Dharma are the teachings of the Buddha, for this is the way to true happiness, and the Sangha are the followers of the Buddha, who are all at varying levels of self discovery. This is why Buddhism is probably the most tolerant of religions. Everybody is on their own path and creating their own karma and no-one has reason to judge anyone else.
