How do the use of children in horror films have an effect on you?

Well, I’m not a parent, I’m just a teenage girl, but I do take film class at school. What I learnt about the use of children, or child-related things, in horror films is that the reason we can find it so unsettling is because they’re taking something we’ve all had (a childhood) and MOST of us relate with purity, innocence, happiness, and turning it against us in a way that we’re not comfortable with. That’s why the use of childrens nursery rhymes, music boxes, dolls, etc. are used so frequently in horror films and have such a creepy effect – they’re taking one of our comfort zones and turning it into our worst nightmare.
