How do voodoo dolls work?
Similar to poppets. It is a tool used in a form of sympathetic magic, which is basically a belief that like can affect like. i.e., if I were to want to do a money spell, I would use actual coins and paper money in the spell. If I wanted to do a healing spell and I can’t have the person physically there for it, I may use a poppet annointed with healing oils or stuffed with healing herbs to represent the person I am wanting to heal. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poppet http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sympathetic… Just don’t believe everything you see in the movies. While magic can be used to wish harm or ill-will on another, this is not usually the goal of such practitioners. I would guess that the majority of the time such dolls are used to help others with healing, fertility, and the like.
