How do we get rid of the annoying drip noise from our reverse osmosis water filtration system?
The drip is usually from the waste water from the filtering process dripping down into the “J” trap in your sink drain. There are several things that can be done, some require more effort or skills than others. 1) The waste water can be run somewhere else and used to water a garden, etc. 2) a small piece of monofilament fishing line can be attached to the end of the filter drain line such that it hangs down inside the “J” trap down to the level of the trapped water. Water exiting the filter drain line will “follow”” the fishing line down to the trap water and make no noise. This works great, but getting the line to stay in place may take some doing. I used some “liquid steel” type epoxy on brand new parts, tying a small not in the end of the fishing line to catch in the epoxy. All the parts were cleaned with alcohol and were thoroughly dry to make sure the epoxy stuck. Well #2 worked for me for a long time, but then I had to replace my RO filter system.
