How Do We Pray An Our Lady Of Lourdes Novena?
Lourdes is a French pilgrimage site known for the healing properties of its water. In 1858 the Virgin Mary made several appearances to Bernadette Soubirous, a peasant girl, in a cave near a trash dump in Lourdes, France. Mary told her that a church should be erected on the spot and produced a spring of fresh water where previously there had been none. After this Lourdes became a popular pilgrimage site, where ill went to drink and bathe in the healing waters. Bernadette became a nun, died young and was declared a saint in 1933. Ordinarily this novena should be prayed from February 2 to February 10, since the Feast Day of Our Lady of Lourdes is February 11. Otherwise you can say this prayer for nine consecutive days, nine Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays or every hour for nine hours. Be blessed, O most pure Virgin, for having vouchsafed to manifest your shining with life, sweetness and beauty, in the Grotto of Lourdes, saying to the child, St. Bernadette: “I am the Immaculate Conception.”
