You have the correct syntax. The “problem” you are seeing is because browser developers are becoming more “security conscientious”. When the browser encounters a protocol it does not understand (telnet) it usually invokes a helper application that does and “relays” the duty to it. When this happens, the user has the option to accept or deny/cancel the operation. I know this is not what you want to hear, but you have reached a road block. Whatever browser’s are still allowing this “automatic telnet”, I would expect them to discontinue that feature in the near future.
